Book Lessons NowBeginner Drum Lessons
Beginner drum lessons are the best way for new drummers to explore this high energy instrument. Teachers will start by helping beginner drummers become familiar with their drum kit, including names and functions of each piece and how to hold their drum sticks. From there, lessons will focus on rudiments, notation, basic grooves and drum fills.
Advanced Drum Lessons
Advanced drummers will focus more on rudimentary improvisational exercises, groove exercises from memory, and limb independency. At this stage, drummers will gain more experience listening to music and controlling their focus while playing live. Teachers will also focus on stage performance and can help drummers learn to play with a band or prepare for performances like Rock Band League!

Drum Lesson FAQs
-
How do Mason Music drum lessons work?
You can self-book for lessons or inquire to be matched by us with a drum teacher who will be a great fit for your goals, experience, personality and schedule. You will meet with your drum teacher once a week each week for 30, 45, or 60 minutes, depending on which lesson length you select. The goal for each lesson is to provide time for building a relationship, warming up, reviewing what was learned in the previous lesson and providing new instruction.
-
What is the best age to start drum lessons?
Most children are ready for private lessons by the age of 7, but every child is different. Our recommendation on whether a child is ready for music lessons primarily depends on their maturity level and ability to focus and practice, rather than on their age.
-
What gear do I need to start drum lessons?
We have tested out several solutions when choosing the right products for our lesson rooms and can advise you on what would be best for you, even if it’s not something that we stock ourselves. Setting up your own kit in your home can be overwhelming if you’ve never done it before, so we’ve created a helpful video called How To Set Up A Drum Kit In 20 minutes to make things a little less scary.
-
How much are drum lessons?
We charge a monthly fee based on the length of the lesson and the type of lesson (private, pair, group, etc.) as well as a one-time $50 registration fee. The most popular lesson option, our 30-minute private weekly lessons, is $160 a month. Check out our complete list of prices for our private lessons. If you have any questions about pricing, you can chat with our studio about your specific interests and we’ll be glad to make a recommendation for what might best meet your needs.
