CAMP FAQs
-
Who teaches these camps?
We staff our camps with the best of the best! We pull from our roster of nearly 100 music teachers in Birmingham and Madison based on people who are passionate and qualified to work in group education environments.
-
What will my child learn?
We have developed proprietary curriculum for each camp through over a decade of experience running music camps. Each camp has specific learning objectives and content that is designed to reach them.
-
Is your staff equipped to handle groups of kids?
Yes! We have training material for classroom management that was developed in conjunction with elementary school teachers to help our staff establish a safe and productive learning environment and address challenges as they arise. We have protocols for every imaginable scenario.
-
Why are your camps more expensive than some others?
We have strict limits on camp sizes to keep our teacher to student ratios low. This allows us to invest more deeply with each child who participates in our camps. We also staff our camps with experts. These are not daycare drop off camps. They are camps designed to foster appreciation and engaged learning.
-
Will my child really learn anything in a week?
Parents are consistently surprised with how much their children are able to learn in one week. We will send home notes about what your child is learning, so you are able to follow along their learning journey.
-
Does my child need their own instrument?
For preschool and beginner camps, we provide everything; no instruments needed! For guitar camp, we also have instruments available, but you are also welcome to purchase an instrument from our inventory and bring it to camp. This gives your child a sense of ownership and pride in their learning. For rock band camps, drums, amps, keyboards, and mics are provided for rehearsals and performances. Guitarists and bassists need to bring their own instruments. If you do not have an instrument, let us know and we can make arrangements.
Still have questions? Email our programs manager at programs@masonmusic.com and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.
