With almost a year of lessons under his belt, Ray has made remarkable progress on his musical journey. He embarked on this adventure with a passion for learning more about music. Ray’s love for music was undeniable from the moment he walked through our doors. Seeking to expand his horizons, he decided to start piano lessons at Mason Music. Ray’s connection with his teacher, Jess, has been instrumental in his growth. He admires her teaching style and learns from the way she guides him.
Ray’s musical tastes are as diverse as his dedication. His current project? Learning to play “Showstopper” from his lesson book. Yet, Ray’s musical interests extend far beyond traditional compositions. He’s particularly drawn to video game music, often delighting in the melodies from games like Deltarune on his trusty Nintendo Switch. It’s always a joy for us to be able to explore our student’s interests. There is something so special and impactful about learning through things that excite you!
When asked what advice he’d offer to fellow students or aspiring musicians, Ray’s response is both insightful and practical. He recommends focusing on the piano’s first three notes – C, D, and E, or A, B, and C. It’s a humble beginning, but as Ray knows well, mastering the basics is the foundation for musical greatness.
One memorable chapter in Ray’s musical journey was his debut recital performance. Nervous yet excited, he took the stage, eager to share his newfound skills. The recital proved to be an entertaining and enjoyable experience. Ray’s hard work and dedication shone through, and he left the stage with a sense of accomplishment, knowing he had done an excellent job performing his piece.
As Ray approaches his one-year anniversary at Mason Music, we can’t help but feel immensely proud of his achievements. In such a short time, he has developed into a talented and dedicated musician, and we’re excited to see where his musical journey takes him in the future.
