We are throwing it back to feature our Fall 2023 Rock Band League winners Mad Day Out! Mad Day Out sat down to talk with us about winning Battle of the Bands and recording in the Mason Music Recording Studio.

Mad Day Out is a high school rock band from Birmingham, AL. The band consist of five members: Anna Reynolds on vocals, Georgia Vargas on drums, Ruby Coleman on bass, and Rex Blackburn and Jacob Moryoussef each on guitar. These bandmates shared with us that they were inspired to come together as a way to express themselves through music. Winning the prized rock at Rock Band League’s Fall 2023 Battle of the Bands is an experience the band remembers fondly. They shared that they are all truly proud of this accomplishment and had a blast performing onstage together! Rock on, guys.

Along with bragging rights and literal spray painted prize rocks, the band won a recording session in the Mason Music Recording Studio. Now, what to record? It was an obvious choice: Safari Song by Greta Van Fleet, which won the band best song during their Battle of the Bands set. Although most of the band members had previous recording experience, Mad Day Out jumped at the chance to record together and immortalize their winning cover in professional quality. The band shared they were pleased with the outcome of their recording and had fun in the process of creating it.
