At Mason Music, we’re proud to celebrate students like Daniel Chaplin, whose passion for music, especially opera, has been lighting up our studios for over three years.

Daniel came to Mason Music with a dream: to sing opera. With the help of his encouraging voice teacher, Jordan, he’s done just that. “Jordan really listens to what I want,” Daniel says. “She helps me a lot and shares resources that can help me too.” With her support, he’s even begun singing opera in other languages, including Italian!
For Daniel, music is more than a skill: it’s a way to advocate and express himself. “When I sing, I like to show others that individuals with a disability also have a voice and should be allowed to share their talents,” he shares. “When I perform, I also express the obstacles I’ve had to overcome in my life. Individuals who have a disability really are more alike than different.”

Outside of lessons, Daniel is a distance runner who’s completed a half marathon in all 50 states, a ballroom dancer, and a passionate advocate for the Down syndrome community. His advice for fellow musicians? “Sing the kind of music you really like and practice every day.”
We couldn’t be more proud to have Daniel as part of our community. His dedication to his craft and his heart for others continue to remind us why we’re so lucky to do what we do. Keep singing, Daniel—your voice and story are powerful.
