Student Spotlight: Radda Register

Join us in celebrating our September Mason Music Student Spotlight Radda Register! Radda has been taking piano and voice lessons with Mason Music for a year. We love this young musician’s dedication to her craft, doing research to better understand her songs.

Radda’s time with us began when she expressed a desire to learn how to sing and play the piano. Thanks to her supportive parents, she found her way to Mason Music lessons. “I look forward to my lessons every week,” Radda says. But Radda wasn’t always so sure… Radda recalls a moment of uncertainty after her second piano lesson when she considered quitting. “I’m glad my parents encouraged me to stick with it,” she says. “After my recitals, I wanted to sing my songs again!” Her enthusiasm for performance and learning continues to blossom.

One of the highlights of Radda’s experience is her time with teachers Jahleel and Tank. “I love Jahleel because he does fun voice exercises with me,” she shares. “I love Tank because they teach me how to understand what I’m having trouble with and makes it make sense.” Their encouragement keeps Radda excited about learning.

Radda loves to learn upbeat and empowering songs, especially those from musicals. She enjoys artists like Taylor Swift, Maren Morris, and Chappell Roan, and has recently been singing pieces from Matilda. Her vocal teacher Jahleel complimented her, saying, “Radda has a song from Matilda the musical. She is reading the book and watching the movie. I feel like the extra research (even if it’s just curiosity) is awesome! It has already helped her to understand.” We love Radda’s curiosity and dedication to performing her pieces well!

Turning the mic over to Radda, she shared this advice for fellow students: “Sing from your belly, not your throat. Challenge yourself, have fun, and don’t get down when you have trouble.” Great advice!

Keep shining, Radda! We’re excited to see you and your musicianship bloom.
